Is Pointing A Gun To Anyone Ok?

"Charles Blow, in his essay "Library Visit, Then Held At Gunpoint, published in The New York Times, stood out to me because, it got my attention it interest me with the first sentence I read. I understood what Charles Blow was arguing. He was defending his son. Even though the cop did not touch him he pointed a gun to his face when he followed all his directions. There was no reason for him to get is gun out. Charles Blow says,"Why was a gun drawn first? Why was he not immediately told why he was being detained? Why not ask for ID first?" All these questions he asked were real helpful for me to understand what he was trying to prove. Another thing Charles Blow says is "Now don't get me wrong if indeed my son matched the description of a suspect, I would have no problem with him being questioned appropriately. School is a community, his home away from home, and he would have appreciated reasonable efforts to keep it safe. The stop is not the problem the method of the stop is". Charles Blow was not upset because, the cop stopped him his son he was upset the way the cop stopped him. Charles argues that his son is far from home in a school so he would want them to do anything to keep it safe just not the way the cop did at that moment just because, he thought he had found the suspect they were looking for. The last thing Charles Blows says is that, "The dean of Yale College campus police chief have apologized and promised an internal investigation, and i appreciate that. But the scars cannot be unmade. My son will always carry the memory of the day he left his college library and an officer trained a gun on him." What Charles Blow is saying that no matter how much time passes the officer pointing a gun at his son, the memory will never fade away.  I would recommend this article to my cousin. I would recommend it to him because, he is studying to be a border patrol. Before he finishes school I would let him read Charles Blows article. I really think it can can give him tips on what not to do when he thinks he has found  someone they are looking for. I would tell my cousin that the authors strength is him arguing everything the cop did wrong and what the cop could have done right.

  1. I like how you asked the question at the beginning of the blog. "Is Pointing a gun to anyone Ok! I totally agree with everything. How could it ever be ok to point a gun at someone that looks a certain way. I tell that law enforcement these days are joke. You can't even get an education to make yourself a better person without being a target.
